Patrick Kane clearly not satisfied with his current income

"Reports: Blackhawks F Kane arrested

Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane, the top overall pick in the 2007 NHL draft, was arrested early Sunday morning in Buffalo, N.Y., and charged with theft of services, criminal mischief and robbery in the second degree after an incident with a cab driver, according to multiple media reports.

The 20-year-old Kane and his cousin, James M. Kane, 21, were taken into police custody at about 5 a.m. ET after allegedly punching the driver and taking the $15 in fare they had given him after he said he didn't have 20 cents in change, a police report says.

The driver said his glasses were broken as he was hit in the face and head and grabbed by the throat, according to the report.

WIVB-TV in Buffalo reported that an attorney for Kane, a Buffalo native, has entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf in a city court."

I had to check the date to make sure it wasn't April first when I saw the headline on the Google news front page. And then I had to read it twice to make sure I read it correctly. Good grief.

Stupid kid. You didn't think someone in your hometown would recognize you if you acted like a dick?

There are some amusing pictures in the comments at Mirtle's site - playing off his new nickname. I guess Calgary Puck has dubbed him "20 Cent" now.

Guys, I think we should wait for further developments before we comment on this case. As we have repeatedly seen in the past, the medias are sometimes (often!) quick to release anything that can make the headline. It's a big monster that needs to be fed all the time, you know.

Video here of the cab driver is all the detail I need.

I originally jumped to his defense with the "don't judge too quickly" stance. I'm off that soapbox now and I say fry the shitstain.

(also, the Buffalo anchorman at the beginning of the video there is named Joe Arena. Wouldn't it be awesome if his middle name was Louis?)

What would be a more amusing fan reaction next season:

1. Pointing and laughing at him in unison for beating someone up over spare change, or

2. Cowering in mock fear and begging him not to beat anyone up because you don't have spare change.

Quenneville is going to have to watch his words very carefully when calling for a line change in the upcoming season if he doesn't want to get beaten up.

I'd give Kane my opinion of him, but I'm afraid he'd kick me in the nuts asking where I'm hiding his other 18 cents.

Per usual, Mirtle has the best take on this. I hadn't heard of this other stuff about Kane (allegedly) being a total douche.

Personally I think it would look funniest if you were to cower in front of a dude who's 5'4"/97 lbs. It's incredible to think that his reputation, for the rest of his career, could be ruined over 20 cents.

Even if Patrick Kane was drunk at the time, i don't think that will help him if the cab driver presses charges
