I'm not going to dignify that game with the usual recap. That was too brutal to describe. It's Shea Weber's fault, it's Jobu's fault, and it is most certainly Osrt's brother's fault. Fuck that guy.

Ugh. The only thing that made this game more torture was that I accidentally recorded the Thrashers feed and had to listen to their announcers while watching the Wings lose. Ugh.

Yes, apparently they are. The lost players in the summer alone put them in a tough spot - we all knew that - and pile the long-term injuries on top of that, and this team is in a very bad way.

No, they're not. Pavelec made some outstanding saves last night, we got some bad bounces, and the Thrashers actually seem capable of going into an effective defensive shell. I'm not happy with all the woe-is-me shoulder drooping that was going on in the third, but I still think it's basically everybody in a slump all at once.
It's a phase, a very painful one, but a phase. I have a feeling that Calgary on Friday will help us come out of our funk.
To clarify: I think the Wings really are in that much trouble right now. Unless their scoring slumps continue, and they continue also to have a lousy penalty kill, they will be fine longer-term.
The problem is that sometimes a slump continues into a bad year, and the PK has been horrid for longer than just a week or two, so ... I guess we'll just have to see what happens as players get better or healthier.
