Red Wings "Blog-Off" (Not as Sexual as it Sounds)

There is a hockey interweb tournament over at The Arena -- hosted by a guy who I swear is named Leafer Sutherland -- in which a number of Wing bloggers will be pitted against one another in a grueling steel cage royal rumble to determine who is the least mom's-basement-y of them all.

While that's what I wish was truly happening (Lord knows how badly I want to set my elbow on fire and drop it on Animal Drew's skull), what is actually going down is a preliminary vote thing that will determine the Red Wings blog of representation at The Arena, and from there that blog would face the winner of other teams until an NHL blogging champion is crowned.

If you're still awake after reading all of that, you can vote for your favorite Wing blogs and then email me you personal info so that I can send a cash reward.*

*Not true.

*Note: This contest is probably worthless as a few Red Wing blogging staples are mysteriously missing from this competition. The notion that The Triple Deke is greater representation than Snapshots makes me want to swallow the Internet.

"mom's-basement-y"

most descriptive bastardy word ever.

Is snapshots a paid blog? Honest question.

I would hope so, because there's no way he could maintain a job with the amount that he updates.

Weird. I just called for a death match between you and 'perfection' over at A2Y, then hopped over here and realized that...that...well, you complete me.

Ha ... well I don't have a problem with the guy, just that particular statement. Me and you can still go halvsies on a heart-shaped locket that we can match up whenever we go to games together.

And another asterisk to put next to the "Snapshots" note from the first comment: a few friends voted Deke but they weren't tallied or something. ABC's Charles Gibson is going to get back to us in the morning on who/what is behind this. (very important footnote: this is not meant to come off as serious ... there are more important things than a poll on a site we are unfamiliar with).

I think that "perfection" is just a pretty arrogant screen name to use - especially since it isn't even capitalized. Too much pressure to not make spelling errors and typos, I would think. :)

I don't know if Snapshots is paid - I know George works as a tutor. If he does all that work for nothing ... dedication and insanity in equal measure, I think.

I always am of two minds about these kinds of polls. On the one hand, I like to see the blogs I favor get support and voting from others - on the other hand, I don't want them to get too much attention from the riff-raff who come on and make stupid comments and just spoil everything, plus I get more validation from liking something that isn't "popular" since so often "popular" is the equivalent of mental tapioca, soft, tasteless, uninteresting, and easy to swallow without really noticing. Bleh.

Initial reports this morning indicate that a "Ms. Baroque" and/or another paid accomplice broke into the Internet and were involved in the theft of roughly one jillion web votes of various Red Wings-related hockey blogs (or "Queer Diaries" as we in Jounalism biz call them). Baroque has yet to be reached for comment as she is not cooperating with local authorities or reporters.

Thank god I use a fake name on the internet! No one will EVER find me now! :D

(Will there be a recap of the Dallas game at some point, or should I not get my hopes up only to have them dashed against the cold hard rocks of reality?)

And I will comment in my own good time, Mr. Gibson. I merely need to assemble my crack A2Y and FHF legal team first.

@ Baroque, et al --

There will be no recap today. As fate would have it, Bertuzzi gets the first star and it happens to be a game in which technology prevented me from seeing it. I'm way busy today also so it probably wouldn't have happened anyway.

I can't believe you got Diddy to endorse TTD for this contest. Jealous...

He drove a hard bargain but I agreed to fetch him breast milk for the next six months if he made an appearance.

The guy who comes up with this stuff said...

Cambodian Breast Milk?

We're on the same page, Guy.

Yay! You're currently in the first place! I just got you your 29th vote.

Now send me my cash reward, please.

Still waiting...

I thought internet cloning to have fake friends who vote for you was banned.

New post finally up .... Osrt, you just commented literally within 4 seconds of me hitting "publish" on it. So ... you win!
