Boo ya!I can't get over the calming effect that having Huet in net for Chicago gives me. Like looking over at the CHI bench and seeing Quennville there, and being like "Oh, that's right...you're our b*tch."word verification: dowsized
It may be the worst photoshop ever but I think it rocks! They made me sweat it out at the end of the game, it felt like a playoff game to me, my heart was racing, I was crossing my fingers (like that helps) and being all sorts of playoff crazy. Thank goodness for Huet.
Every year that we've won a Cup since Quenneville's been a coach, we've gone thru a Quenneville coached team. 96-97, 97-98, and 01-02 with St. Louis, and 07-08 with the Dive. Last year was actually the first time we've eliminated a Joel Quenneville coached team and NOT won the Cup.
As I told my Blackhawk fan friend yesterday, "Huet was my favorite Red Wing this game!"...he IS a double agent, right??
This isnt about the Chicago game its about the Flames game. I am posting it here for a couple reasons. One I need to write something about the game I just watched. And two, I like VooX but I miss the Chief and I feel like A 2 Y has been bogged down with to many bandwagon fans and nay sayers and I cant fucking stand that. This is our team win or lose and I am sick and tired of the negativity in those threads right now. However I digress and ironically enough I want to bitch about the Wings. I am very disappointed in the game I just saw. Not just because of the loss but because of the effort. Something is missing from this team and I dont want to say heart because that is to easy. Its something else I cant put my finger on. Hank is not full speed and that bugs me because he brings a lot of what I consider to be the mantra of the Red Wings. Maybe the word is pride. Not heart, though I think that is missing a bit, but its pride that has been sucked from this team. I cant say why. And I do not want to rant. I am a unhappy member of the 19 and right now I feel like your site Tyler is where I want to be. I love the 19 but something is missing from A 2 Y right now too. And it may just be pride as well. I hope the Chief comes home soon.
Axe, you can rant here all you want. I can start making gameday threads just for you to say whatever you want to the empty walls of TTD. (By the way, while you're in there, I was hoping you wouldn't mind fixing up the fist shaped holes in the ceiling. My angry jump-punch reflex has left this place trashed.)And I think it's confidence, not heart. Don't take this personally, but if anyone can say with 100 percent certainty that it's heart: fuck off. It's probably too fine of a line to look through your TV and tell between fatigue (physical or mental) and passion for the sport. Okay, and probably "confidence" as well .... whatever, I just think it's brazen to say a team that is largely made up of the same 2007-2009 heart-y bunch all of a sudden just doesn't have it. Tell that to Franzen, who fucking busted his ass to recuperate from an ACL tear, or Homer or Kronwall or anyone else who has battled injuries. If it's a heart issue, and not just people blowing off steam, I want to start hearing names.bandwagon fans and nay sayers and I cant fucking stand that. This is our team win or lose and I am sick and tired of the negativity in those threads right now.I think you and JJ from Kansas would get along if this was real life.- Tyler
AxeMaster - Not everyone thinks it would be "heart" or "desire" or something like that. I would never make that accusation - calling a professional athlete heartless would be like calling someone who works in science a fraud. It's a serious accusation and shouldn't be tossed around lightly with no evidence. Besides, if it was a simple as "wanting" to make the playoffs then all 30 teams would be in.I really think the entire team has gotten mentally burned out and won't be 100% until after a full offseason to rest. It's one thing to be running on fumes near the end of the year - this team has seemed to be running on fumes from almost the very beginning.(And if you want a more positive environment, you are welcome at Winging it in Motown. Casey and Mike run a solid and respectful ship there, and the conversation is always fun. Plus I might start rambling about my "Fabric Hossa Project" which is going to be the most horribly ugly and cheesy thing I have ever created.) :)

I wouldn't tolerate this cross-blog advertising if WIM wasn't so classy and I were still alive to post new material.I read a ton of blogs. I don't have exclusive relationships with any blog - I guess I'm just a hockey-blog-slut. :D
I read a ton of blogs. I don't have exclusive relationships with any blog - I guess I'm just a hockey-blog-slut. :D First of all....what??? Awesome is the best response to that. Second of all I don't think its 100% heart what so ever. Do I think it is part that, yes I do. The reason is simple actually. A scientist (to use my hero Baroque's metaphor) gets paid to do his job. And that's what he does, from 9-5 he does his job. Does he (or she) need an extra push to get to 5 pm? Sure, maybe some coffee or a red bull, but its not heart that pushes them through the day. An athlete, by nature, should be playing with heart/pride/confidence your choice. When you are at a point in your job (being hockey) that you have to get over the wall its heart that does it. And when this team just quits. Just straight up quits. Thats my problem. I use pride because I think that's what it is. When your own coach says that we aren't good enough, to me that reflects on the players. I understand that they get paid a lot of money for this, and they get the paycheck no matter what. I also am not singling anyone out because you are right Tyler, Franzen is a beast. Its a team thing. And our team is led by guys like Hank and Pav. Yzerman played on one fucking leg. Win or lose no one said after a game 'man this team lacks heart'. Didnt happen because they played like their leader. I am ranting again. Sorry. Tyler I love the idea of an open thread. 100% I will be here. I can not patch your dry wall at this time, due to the considerable effort it is taking to fix mine. If Baroque is the hockey-blog slut, I would like to be the triple deke man whore. Just saying
